This year I am trying to implement design thinking into our curriculum. We recently read the story, Pig in a Wig. After we read the story and discussed the characters, the children had to create different items that could help the pig. See activity sheet and video.

Making smaller words from bigger words

One of my students favorite centers is going to the white board and trying to create as many words as they can using the letters from a bigger word. The bigger word is usually one of our vocabulary words.

Alternative Assessment

This past week we have spent time reading many different books about Bees. They are very interesting social butterflies. I challenged my children to write down facts that they learned throughout the week on my easel. It was a great way to see what they were comprehending. At the end of each day we went over what we had learned. Here is what it looked like half way through the week.
