  6. Author Skype

    May 14, 2014 by amorsell

Today we Skyped with one of our favorite authors, Ashley Spire. She has written Binky the Space Cat, The Most Magnificent Thing, and many more children’s book. She read her book The Most Magnificent Thing and taught us how to draw a dog. She inspired us to draw and to let our imaginations run wild. It is okay to make mistakes and to keep practicing.

  7. Learning about Simple Machines

    May 14, 2014 by amorsell

In our reader, we are learning about simple machines. Today the children had to complete a scavenger hunt teaching them about everyday simple machines. Each group was given a questionnaire. They had to find the answer card that matched up to the question. The answer cards were hidden throughout the classroom. After the hunt, we went over each simple machine. As one child said, “wow, we really do use simple machines all the time”. This was a fun activity for the children to work collaboratively and to get up out of their seats.

  8. Coat of Arms

    May 6, 2014 by amorsell

We have begun our unit of castles and fairy tales. We went on a field trip to a real castle which was very fun. It is always nice to have an experiential learning experience. As apart of this unit, the students will  make their coat of arms and each child will write their own fairy tale. In social studies the children have been learning about coat of arms and the roles of knights. Here the teacher is sharing her own family’s coat of arms. image

  10. Make my design

    March 31, 2014 by amorsell

The students played make my design. They had to make a pattern and then describe the pattern to their partner to see if the partner could recreate it. It was a great way for them to use their describing words and to use their visualizing skills.
